Home / Internet & network / Copper to fibre

KPN is switching off copper. We handle the switch.

Fibre, telephony and the lines still running on copper, such as alarm, lift and payment terminals. We map everything out and move it over in one project, keeping your numbers.

Does this sound familiar?

The letter from KPN has arrived. Now what?

This is what we hear most often from organisations that are told copper is ending at their address.

There's a letter with a date, but nobody knows exactly which services still run over the copper line.

The alarm, the lift or the payment terminal was once connected to an analogue line, and nobody knows whether it will keep working.

Internet, telephony and the payment terminal sit with different suppliers, who point at each other when there's a question.

As a 24/7 business, we can't afford any downtime. Thanks to the redundant fibre solution at all our sites, our uptime is close to 100%.

A redundant internet connection is absolutely essential for us. We also tackled our telephony; we deliberately chose a warm, human reception where callers are properly attended to.

We've been a client for years and our requirement is really simple, as they say in Rotterdam: 'It just has to work!' And it does.

How it works in practice

First, mapping what runs on copper.

Internet, phone lines, fax numbers and the lines for alarm, lift and payment terminals. We also check which contracts are attached, so nothing drops out unexpectedly.

Advies over de verbinding
Werken in de cloud

Your numbers come along.

We port landline numbers to business telephony over the internet, or to Teams or Zoom calling. Customers call the same number as always.

Not a day without a connection.

During the switch, a temporary 4G or 5G connection can take over. Copper only goes once fibre is working.

Questions about the switch

When will copper be switched off at our address?

+

KPN is switching off copper step by step in areas with fibre, and aims to phase out the entire copper network before 2030. After the announcement you can usually keep using the copper connection for about a year. We check what applies at your address.

What happens to alarm, lift and payment terminal lines?

+

These sometimes still run over an analogue copper line. We map this out in advance and arrange a solution with the alarm, lift or payment terminal supplier before copper is switched off.

Can we keep our phone numbers?

+

Yes. We port landline numbers to business telephony over the internet, or to Teams or Zoom calling. Customers call the same number as always.

What if there's no fibre at our address yet?

+

Then we look at cable or a radio link. That way you don't have to wait for fibre to be laid.
